
On Friday, the trivia club put together valentine cards to give to the Grant County Nursing Home. Each of our clubs are participating in a service project throughout the year to give back! #VikingPride


Today's PVL cheer competition at PHS has been postponed due to a lack of judges. A make up date is still being considered.

The tennis meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, will be postponed until Monday, Feb. 19th @ 5pm in the media center.

Students in Mrs. Stumps Theater class attended the 2024 Regional Thespian Competition on Saturday January 27th. Two students from PHS, Blair Loy and Alana Davis, were recognized as outstanding and have been invited to the State Thespian Festival in Morgantown! #VikingProud








**STAFF SPOTLIGHT** Every Friday we are going to shine the spotlight on one of our staff members. This Friday it is Mrs. Lori Western. Mrs. Western has been with Grant County Schools for 14 years. She is currently the secretary here at Petersburg High School. Mrs. Western says " I love the interaction with the students, as well as assisting the staff with whatever they need." The PHS Junior Class is selling roses for Valentines Day. These will be delivered to the recipient on Wednesday, February 14th. Orders will end on Friday, February 2nd at 3pm. Miss PHS Pageants will still occur on Saturday, January 20th at the Landes Arts Center. If you have a late application for this you must turn it in to Mrs. Wilkins in Room 97 immediately upon return to school. If weather becomes an issue, a decision will be made and posted to the school's social media regarding rescheduling. Yesterday our Middle School students participated in the benchmark reward! If they showed improvement in their benchmarks, they received a piece of tape to tape our administration to the wall! Our Administration were great sports! #VikingProud

**WVSSAC Coaching Education Courses **
The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission is conducting Coaching Education Classes at Union High School in Mount Storm West Virginia. On January 22,23,25 from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The Instructor will be current UHS Athletic Director/Coach Jamie Tallman. Those individuals that are not otherwise qualified by the West Virginia Department of Education and wish to Coach any sport at the High School or Middle School level in West Virginia is required to take these classes. To register and receive more information, go the website: wvssac.org and select the tab "Coaches" then “Coaches Education” or call 304-485-5494. Space for the class is limited to first come first serve.

On Friday we had a couple of exciting events happen here at PHS! First, Mrs. Carmen's Class explored a cultural holiday experience of the Three Wise Men. One of the Wise Men, Melchor, brought a gift of a sweet treat on Friday to the students of PHS. Then, our Middle School had their PBIS Rewards. Eligible students were able to attend the Basketball against Moorefield. #VikingProud
